Max had his first swim class last Saturday. He did pretty darn good for his first time in the water. Don't get me wrong, there was a good bit of screaming, but I think he'll really like it. He wasn't a big fan of going under water, nor was he a big fan of going to the teacher. He did, however, love floating on his back. That and chewing on a little foam toy really helped him from totally melting down. I also think that a big part of his crankiness was due to the time of the class. He went at 12:30, which is usually when he takes a nap. We're switching the boys' swim classes to Sunday. Max will swim first at 2:00 and Eli will go next at 2:30. Hopefully this will make a difference in Max's temperament.
And Eli? He had his last swim class with Franz. We thought he was going to get his blue ribbon. To get it, he has to swim under water and do five "up faces" in a row, and on Saturday, he FINALLY did the up faces all by himself, and we totally thought he was a shoe in, but what they didn't tell us was that he has to do this THREE WEEKS IN A ROW. Franz and I were so bummed. We had pumped Eli up for getting his ribbon (which included ice cream bribery), and when the class ended, he kept asking when he was going to get his ribbon, and when they were going to ring the bell for him, and it didn't happen. We were all pretty heartbroken.

Forgot to say Happy Birthday Eli!! You are now the big 3!!!
Thanks for the Happy Birthday. Eli had a great day with his party still to come. He's already talking about turning 4! He's exact words were, "And when you turn 4 you'll get more presents!"

Your welcome for the happy birthday. I just think Eli likes presents. I wonder how he will be at christmas time. Or when Max turns 1 and all the presents are not for him.
